Méribel

The central heart of the Three Valleys — chalet charm and a long-time British favourite.

Méribel sits right in the middle of the Three Valleys, which makes it the perfect base for exploring all 600km. Thanks to a strict building code it's all pretty timber chalets rather than concrete, and it's long been a favourite with British skiers — sociable, good-looking and easy to love. Méribel Centre (1450) is the hub; Mottaret (1750) is higher and more snow-sure.

⛷️The skiing

Being dead-central, Méribel puts all 600km of the Three Valleys on your doorstep — with quick links to Courchevel one way and Val Thorens the other. Lovely tree-lined runs, mile-wide blues for cruising, and Mottaret's higher, snow-sure terrain. There's plenty for beginners at the Altiport, and enough steep stuff to keep experts happy.

The Louk tip

Ski to Courchevel for lunch and back — it's the easiest 'two resorts in a day' in the Alps, and the perfect way to show off the Three Valleys.
